From special events to exhibitors, the UFC Fan Expo was dedicated to enhancing and promoting mixed martial arts. MMA fans filled the Mandalay Bay Convention Center Friday and again on Saturday July 11th. The jam packed expo had fans of all ages attend. The expo was very well created and coordinated. Fans had the opportunity to experience stepping into “The Octagon”, which is the trademarked name by the UFC for its close combat mma cage. Fans were able to meet and greet current fighters and former legends like Royce Gracie and Forrest Griffin. MMA fans had the chance to learn behind-the-scene training & development sessions instructed by official UFC training members. And listen to keynotes with Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White. Grappler’s Quest held grappling tournaments and allowed fans to compete or watch. The UFC Expo was a memorable and inspirational experience created for the pleasure for the mixed martial arts enthusiast.
ABOUT UFC 100
Frank AMir was stopped in round two by UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar Saturday July 11th at the Mandalay Bay. Lesnar lost to Mir in UFC 81 by 1st round submission. Mir was taken to the ground by Lesnar and then hammer punched along the cage. Referee Herb Dean then stopped the fight in 1:48 of the second. After Lesnar’s win, the crowd reacted by booing. Lesnar reacted by making crude gestures to the crowd using this two hands.
What was belived to be the biggest challenge of his career, ended with a win for Georges St. Pierre after executing a thrilling performance against Thiago Alves. St. Pierre won by decision with scores of 50-45, 50-45, 50-44. St. Pierre clearly demonstrated his talent by not allowing Alves into the fight. A less skillful Avles was constantly taken to the ground by St. Pierre then worked on the ground. . Alves would eventually force his way off the ground and back onto his feet while taking an abundance of punishment. The two coaches from “The Ultimate Fighter 9”, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping grudge was finally settled too. Henderson outclassed Bisping, by knocking him out with a big right hand. During the fight Bisping circled and cautiously moved way from the dominate Henderson. The fight ended at 3:20 when Henderson landed a powerful right punch to Bisping’s chin and then followed up with an elbow to the face.
