Brandon Randon Interview “Tell Trevor Robbins to be prepared to lose!”

brandon_rondon_mma

This Friday night at the Horseshoe River Dome in Bossier City , LA , once beaten Brandon Rondon (1-1) looks to get back to winning as he takes on Austin XTreme’s Trevor Robbins, on Cage Kings card labeled as “Victory”.

A former ISCF featherweight champion who banged out an amateur record of (8-1), Rondon made his debut in October 2008, defeating cross town rival Blake Franklin, via (TKO). In March of 2009, which was Brandon’s last outing in the cage, Rondon lost to fight veteran Matt Hamilton via (rear naked choke), now Brandon is back and raring to get back in the win column, and plans on getting there this Friday night in entertaining fashion. In this exclusive interview conducted by Convicted Artist, Brandon gives his thoughts on his past a s well as future, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.
What has been going on in the world of Brandon Rondon?

Brandon Rondon
I am coming off a loss, he was a veteran. The first round I put him on his ass with a right hand, at the end of the round he was sitting on his butt, he was out, but we only had ten seconds left in the round, the ref did not call it. In the second round he took me down and choked me out. It was against a much more experienced guy, he fought in Japan all over the world. I don’t like to lose so I am coming back.

BH
All though it was a loss, what did you take away from that experience?

BR
Well I have a lot more confidence in my hands, my trainer Brent Mason told me that I had power in my hands, but I just never really used it until I fought this guy. I did not want to go to the ground so I stayed on him at all times and let my boxing work on him. Just having pop in my hands makes me work harder on my stand up in practice everyday.

BH
I remember being at your pro debut for Cage Kings in October of 2008, you beat Blake Franklin, which was pretty animated between you two before the fight. What was it like going in there beating this guy in your debut?

BR
It wa s great, that fight against great, it was beyond fighting, it was personal. All my friends and family knew about the history between us. It was like a school yard fight, all your friends are out there watching and you cannot lose because you would have to hear about it the rest of your life. But I beat him, it was great, shutting him up for one, and now I get to have bragging rights.

BH
What do you feel are your best qualities as a fighter?

BR
I would say right now, I have been working a lot with Chad Leonhart on my wrestling, my jiu-jitsu is pretty good, and I think I am going to keep standing because Brent mason keeps drilling in my head about my power, so I am going to go for that quick knock out.

BH
Do you know anything about your oppo nent?

BR
He actually lost to Blake Franklin, he lost in about two minutes, so if I destroyed Blake, then I should be pretty confident with this fight. I am not going to take it easy; I don’t take it easy on anybody.

BH
What message would you send out to your opponent before the fight?

BR
Just come prepared to lose; this is my first time with my out of state family coming to watch me, so I am definitely going to put on a show. Be prepared to lose and keep your hands up.

BH
Anything in closing?

BR
I want everybody to pay attention to my entrance, I have a Michael Jackson tribute ready.

BH
You’re not going to moonwalk are you? (Both Laugh)

BR
I have been trying to learn it, but I have not got it down. But I will be entertaining.
