Affliction MMA ceases operations as a promoter

Affliction will cease operations as a promoter and now will become a UFC sponsor. Affliction had a pretty good card set for August first but had a very big problem with a fighter known as Josh Barnett. He tested positive for a banned substance and was refused a license to fight Fedor on the Affliction trilogy main card. That left Affliction searching for a fighter to replace Barnett in one week. With really no other alternatives the only person to fight Fedor was the former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort who was already scheduled to fight the night of Affliction Trilogy. Now that all fighters, who are fighting presently for Affliction, will be free agents because the possible merger with Strikeforce fell through real fast. All fighters could revert to the UFC or just stay free agents. So now it seems that the UFC will be getting Fedor and we will see the fight we will all be hoping to see Lesner vs. Fedor for the heavyweight championship. There will be more on this subject to fallow soon.
