III. Conditions for Induction into The Hall of Fame in the category of Boxer/Wrestler Are:
This special category requires that the nominee must have been an exceptional competitor in both the disciplines of boxing and wrestling. Amateur and professional career accomplishments and citizenship will be considered.
The nominating presenter must obtain and then provide fifteen (15) copies ofthe nominee’s authorized form for consideration - which may eventually be selected for a vote by the Board of Director membership. The form must include two good quality photographs that are not copyrighted and is capable of being publicized in local, national and The El Paso Boxing and El Paso Martial Arts Hall of Fames publications. The nominee or his presenter will also submit to the board a career resume that lists his/her major accomplishments along with an essay of 150-300 words that includes not only the highlights of the nominee’s athletic career but his/her civil service and military service as well. It is of vital importance to the hall of fames that the nominee is of good character and is now or has represented his/her city, state, and country loyalty in a positive and patriotic manner. In consideration for admission to the hall of fames it is imperative and in fact dutiful of the Board of directors to place heavy emphasis of civic and military service.
The presidents of the hall of fames along with the executive director (former president or designee by executive director)) will then make contact with the presenter and nominee to ascertain that the facts provided in the resume for consideration, are true and correct to the best of their knowledge and is verifiable.
If a nominee meets all the criteria for election to either or both hall of fames and is selected by a majority of the hall of fames directors, then that nominee will be honored at that particular years honor banquet. The nominee will receive notification of his/her selection within ten days of the voting and will receive two free banquet tickets. If the yearly funding of the halls is successful the nominee’s will receive a plaque or trophy plus a jacket with the hall of fames logo. Moreover, arrangements have been made with a local jeweler so that a nominee or board member may purchase a hall of fame ring for a very nice discounted price. Too, we know that many people have difficult schedules and cannot be at every calling of the board of directors. Therefore, we request that the nominee’s that can’t make press conferences or other media events in the year of their induction or the induction dinner and awards event be so kind as to provide forty-eight hours (48) notice so that other arrangements can be made.
In the event that a nominee cannot be at the hall of fame dinner because of illness, travel problems or other bonafide reasons, the board will then recognize same through a proxy accepter and then send the awards and other meaningful items by mail or other means to the nominee. In short, the nominee is inducted to the specific hall of fame he/she is qualified for.
* Presenters and nominees can see the resumes presented at Convictedartist.com with Steven Arredondo’s permission and on Thomas McKay’s Facebook page. If so, we will be posting all the voting results there as well.
