Former “The Contender” contestant, as well as hot rising middleweight contender Miguel Espino 20-2-1 (9) will get his first shot at a world title strap December 19th as the twenty-nine year old fighter takes on the once beaten WBC/WBO champion Kelly Pavlik 35-1 (31) in Pavlik’s hometown of Youngstown, OH.
Espino, a California based boxer, who lost out in “The Contender” series in 2004, has not tasted defeat since, banging out eleven consecutive victories, with wins over the likes of Jonathan Reid (5th R. TKO), Sergey Stepkin (UD) and Alejandro Garcia (6th R RTD).
This will be the toughest challenge in Espino’s nine year career as he takes on the hard hitting Pavlik, whose only loss on his resume was against boxing great Bernard Hopkins.
Pavlik has beaten the likes of Edison Miranda (7th R. TKO), has two wins over Jermain Taylor, the first a seventh round TKO and the second a unanimous decision victory. His last outing Pavlik beat Marco Antonio Rubio into submission.
Convicted Artist contacted Espino’s trainer, John Bray, who was ecstatic about the upcoming fight, Bray told C.A.M. that he will do everything in his power to keep Miguel from getting swamped by the press in keeping Miguel’s mind on the fight, but assured C.A.M. Miguel will be speaking to the site soon on the bout.
Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Miguel Espino, as well as his trainer John Bray.
