Chalk up one more death defying raid by the police: They break down a front door, enter a private home, kill two Labrador Retrievers (who were running away from the police) handcuff the man of the house, in his undershorts, in front of his Mother-in Law and make him stay that way for over two hours, until his wife came home to this pleasant homey scene. No warrant, no knock on the door, just invasion tactics.
Undercover police got wind of a plan to get illegal drugs into the country using overnight mail delivery. They found out about the delivery man who was in on the scheme, and replaced him with a police officer. The "officer of the law" delivered the package to the house, and left it on the porch. The unsuspecting home owner came home, picked up the package and took it into the house, put it on a table, and went to change his clothes. He had not even looked at the package at this time, he just wanted to get out of his business clothes. While he is changing, the sheriff's department men break in, shoot his dogs and handcuff him. The man identifies himself, but the officers aren't interested, they got their man, do not even check him out.
Later, they find out a gang of dope smugglers were shipping the drugs to random addresses, the deliveryman would leave the packages on the porches; another thug would walk up and take the package. The accomplice was not able to get the package before the sheriff's department's men did their raid. The police did not know about the accomplices, or the full scheme, so the mistaken raid took place.
The man whose house they desecrated, and whose dogs they murdered, is the mayor of that city. Needless to say, he is not a happy camper! The sheriff's department, at no time, before or after, checked with the local police department to check the mayor's identity, just did not believe the mayor and his family.
If it can happen to a public official, in his own house, in his own town, it can happen, and has happened too often, to any of us. Who really are the terrorists we face? By the way how come the sheriff's man who made the drug drop wasn't arrested, that is against the law!
What happened to that piece of paper our country was founded upon? I believe it is called the Constitution , which says, unless law enforcement has a warrant, they cannot enter your home, or even cross your doorstep, unless you let them in, or we are under Martial Law.
We really need to VOTE and to petition our law makers. Down with the Patriot Act, Up with our Liberties and Rights!
