The Spanish Parliament is considering a law giving all the Ape Family, GREAT and small; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, on a par with us humans.
This philosophy has long been a pet theme with USA professor ,Peter Singer, and many of his colleagues, so it may happen here before too long, considering the apish monkey shines of our current group of legislators and judges !
I do not now bout you, Honeys, but, I am not now, nor ever have been related to a chimp, monkey, ape, or gorilla, let alone an orangutan!(Although, every family has someone who acts like one!) Nor did I swim around in some primordial soup (although, am often in hot water) before my Mama gave birth to me!
Spain's position is that animals should be afforded the same liberties as us lowly humans.
Granted-there is merit to part of this act, as to protecting the ape species from torture and experimentation. I understand that! Although there are a lot of sick people (especially AIDS patients) who owe their longer lives and better treatments, to monkeys that were used to test new drugs and treatments on. I think animal brutality is very wrong and I am not happy with that experimentation stuff-but animal protection acts are the way to fix this. Why are animals superior or equal to humans?
It is a kind of neat idea tho, maybe LULU, my dog, could get a job and kick in some money towards the rent, throw in a few bucks for food and the doggy beauty parlor. I spend $50.00 a month to make her beautiful, and kill the fleas, maybe she could treat me to a facial, heaven knows I need one!(I wonder if that is cruel and inhumane treatment to poison the fleas?)
My cats have been out of work for 8 years, maybe they could collect unemployment, buy their own food and kitty liter, maybe clean their liter box once in a while! That would be neat.
All monkeying around aside, I think we need to start acting like upright Humans and pay attention to what is happening around the world and to us. Write to our Universities, look into what your children are being taught in school and University, who is influencing them, brainwashing them. Write our Liberal Lawmakers and Judicial decision makers that WE THE PEOPLE COME FIRST, and quit teaching our kids they are anything less that a wonderful, unique, beautiful creation, a little less than the Angels.
As for Mr. Singer & his followers, what is next? Tearing sown the Statue of Liberty and erecting King Kong with Fay Wray in his hand instead of the Torch of Liberty?
"Give me your poor furry creatures
Your hungry four legged beings
Give me your huddled monkeys, your downtrodden apes!"
Instead of "Oh Say Can You See"-how about
"Hey, Hey We're The Monkeys:
Oh Boy!!!

P.S. Spain has no apes, or monkeys, or chimps, etc. native to their habitat, they will have to have them immigrate from Gibraltar, give them green cards and food stamps!
P.P.S. Is it not strange that Spain heavily promotes and supports Bull
Fighting? Poor bulls, they must not be as downtrodden as the apes. Besides, a lot of money is made from Bull Fighting. It's a weird, weird world is it not?
