Performance Enhancing Drugs, Etc. Humans/Horses

Performance Enhancing Drugs, Etc. Humans/Horses

After reading the list below of drug enhancements by boxers, it is easy to understand why some trainers do not expose more youth to competitive boxing. I decided over a decade ago  not to put clean youth against  possible body enhancement or PED’s by opponents. It is a shocking shame that these violations in boxing and most  other sports has led to a Culture of Drug Champions. What is more troubling is that the general public seems to just root for their favorite in spite of possible performance enhancers.

This era is chock full  of athletes that cheat…and why not? Many of them go on to fame and riches that would never pass their way if they had stayed natural. Lance Armstrong has been shot-gunned from the Get-Go for his PEDS. Yet, cycling goes on with most riders doing some sort of enhancement and few, if any, called out like Lance and their careers demolished. So, is there an answer? Not at all unless guidelines are okayed for everyone to cheat and make the playing field, ring, octagon, or what have you, more equal for each competitor.

In days gone by, It was mostly the horses that were doped.  Millionaire and billionaire owners hired top medical teams to dope their horses and gain an advantage in a sport famous for the Triple Crown. During the 30’s and 40’s many were caught but the punishment was slight. Since the 50’s and up to now, most doped horses are not testing positive. In brief, the medical teams that prepare and mask the drugs are so efficient now that seldom is one caught. It is, like boxing ,MMA, Football, Basketball, Track and Field, Cycling, hockey, and swimming, in order to have winners, drug enhancement or combinations of same is the answer. As the future proceeds, so too will the drugs and better masking agents.
