Cale Grady Interview " Let the Beating Begin ! "

cale_grady

After banging out a respectable amateur record of (5-1), and earning the Ring Rulers Ark-La-Tex middleweight championship amateur title, Cale Grady set out in 2008 to make his mark as a professional cage fighter, and that he did. His debut was as such, one punch, two seconds, and one hell of a You Tube highlight real.

Cale Grady was on top of the world with his record breaking two second win over Ryan Chavarria, it seemed as all was right with and for Grady.

A year removed from the exploding debut of Cale Grady, and the tough Texan has found himself with a (1-2) record. But all though many young fighters would be down and out, Cale doesn’t see it that way. He chalks up his back to back losses as learning experiences, which led him to rethink his career and restructure his fighting style, which he is ready to showcase tomorrow night at Cage Kings “Victory”, as he takes on debuting Wes Allen, at the Horseshoe Riverdome in Bossier City , LA.

Grady who fought at 185-pounds, has now dropped down to 170-pounds and moved his training to Mohler’s in Fort Worth, TX, and he feels confident with his team around him in preparing him in securing a victory and getting back on the winning track.

In this exclusive interview conducted by Convicted Artist Magazine, “Game” talks shop about his fight and career, enjoy.

Interview by: Benny Henderson Jr.

Benny Henderson Jr.
You will be stepping back in the cage tomorrow night for Cage Kings in Bossier City , LA. What are your thoughts?

Cale Grady
I am excited man, I am ready to get back to the five hundred mark. Coming off my only two losses which were consecutive, I am looking forward to getting back in there and getting back to five hundred. Getting back to a 2-2 record is absolutely the most important thing to me right now. I am going to do what ever it takes that at the end of the night I will be 2-2.

BH
When fighters have that first loss, it can affect the fighter, how did the losses, affect you mentally?

CG
Of course everybody has their doubts, the day after the fight I was really con cerned and down and out, but, my wife and teammates they had the right things to say, I just needed to get somewhere and get my ground game down. Both of the fights I lost I was winning in stand up and when it went to the ground I was out of my league. I knew what I had to do, I had to make a move to a better place. I try to stay positive about it, I am not a negative person. I am ready to get back in there. As soon as I got choked out in the last one, as soon as I woke up I wanted get back in there right then, it was tough. After the fight the judge told me I was on my way to getting a 10/8 round, but I got chocked out. It made me hungrier.

BH
Sure losses are never good for a record, but a fighter can take something positive from a loss, which can better them down the road. Did you take anything positive away from the two losses?

CG
I have be focusing my attention to the ground game, basically been starting out in the worst posi tions on the ground and start from there. I feel if I can get out of the positions on the ground the rest of the fight I should not have any trouble.

BH
You are fighting Wes Allen, what do you know of him?

CG
He is the fourth guy we have had for this fight, we had some guys get hurt. This is debut, he was (7-2) as an amateur, he is a stand up fighter. There will be some fireworks, I have been looking for a stand up guy, somebody who will bang it out with me and it looks like I may get my chance. This fight is at 170-pounds, I am not at 185 anymore.

BH
How do you feel at 170-pounds?

CG
I feel great, I should be ready to go at the weigh in, I am ready to go and put a stamp on this kid.

BH
What can the fight fans expect Cale Grady come fight night?

CG
Fireworks, it is going to be a good show. I have sunk my heart and soul into this, there is absolutely my hands will not be raised at the end of the night. I am ready to get back on the winning track, and Friday night will be the night that it will start. Let the beatings begin.

BH
If you could send out a message to Wes Allen before the fight what would it be?

CG
Pack a sack lunch, if he plans on beating me he better bring a sack lunch because he is going to be there for a while.

BH
You feel stronger mentally and physically coming into this bout?

CG
Absolutely, you get a lot of confidence when you know you have the right training and are at the right camp, and your team is dedicated in getting you all better. That confidence goes along ways. There is no way this guy can beat me, there is no way he is better than any of the guys I have been training with.

BH
In closing, is there anything you would like to say to the fight fans coming to see the Cage Kings show?

CG
Game time is back, sorry about the last two fights, I was a little off track, I have made some changes for the better, Cale “Game” Grady is back better than ever.
