It seems that Josh Barnett will not be fighting Fedor anytime soon do to the fact that Josh Barnett tested positive for a banned substance. The Califrnia State Athletic Commission will not license him for next weekend’s fight in Anaheim. “He tested positive,” Atencio told Michael David Smith. “Him and Fedor is off.” As of right now Atencio said that Affliction trilogy was still on but answered “no comment” to the rumors of middleweight Vitor Belfort or heavyweight Bobby Lashley were being looked at as possible fill-ins to face fedor. This is not real great to Barnet’s reputation and with his relationship with Affliction and Atencio. Barnett was already labeled for the rest of his life as a steroid user after he tested positive in 2002. He did defeat Randy Couture at UFC 36 but was stripped of the title. There is a good choice of who should fight Fedor but the risk of fedor losing is to high and the man that should face him is 220 pound Gerard Mousasi. He is also on the card that night and is supposed to fight Renato “Babalu” Sobral. Some people as of late are asking without Barnett, is it worth it for affliction to move forward with this card? We all know Dana White wants Fedor in the UFC now but Atencio said Fedor would never sign with the UFC. But if He wants to fight the best then Fedor needs to be in the UFC because that’s were the best are. I guess we will see what happens.
