who has proven the fans to be the #2 contender of the light heavyweight division by defeating many of the best fighters UFC has to offer including legendary former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz (UFC 84) with a unanimous decision with all judges scoring the bout 30-27 in his favor.
Like Machida; Evans had his moment to shine against former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz which resulted in a draw. Evans, who many believe should have lost that bout, lucked out as the judges scored the bout 28-28 for a draw. In this battle, Ortiz who won two out of three rounds on the scorecards was deducted a point for holding the cage in order to avoid a takedown by Evans.
Unfortunetly for Lyotto Machida who is skilled in Shotokan Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Sumo to obtain the crown; he must defeat the much tougher and hungrier warrior Evans who specializes in kickboxing and wrestling.
Evans, who has earned his title by destroying nearly all that cross his path including Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Keith Jardine, Stephan Bonnar and Michael Bisping must be prepared for the ultimate challenge against Machida and have a strong game plan in order to overcome the favored Lyotto Machida.
In the co-main event, former UFC champions Matt Hughes (43-7) will be battling Matt Serra (18-5) for what is called the grudge match.
Last minute replacement Mike Pyle (17-5-1) will be making his UFC debut against tough Brock Larson (26-2).
Prediction: Rashad Evans (Decision)
