Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotion company believes it will soon close a deal matching Floyd Mayweather Jr. against Sugar Shane Mosley in May. De La Hoya also confidently predicts Mayweather will fight against Filipino Manny Pacquiao in the near future. "That fight has to be," said De La Hoya on Tuesday about the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, which collapsed earlier this month following a lawsuit over anti-doping tests. "It is a fight too big to not happen. We just have to overcome an obstacle." The Golden Boy expressed his beliefs regarding the state of the welterweight division at a Tuesday news conference. De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions business partner Richard Schaefer are currently working to make the Mayweather vs. Mosely fight happen in Las Vegas on May 1st.. "Different teams are working very hard on this, "said De La Hoya. "That's the fight that could bring boxing to another level." Regardless of the outcome of this fight, De la Hoya believes Mayweather will eventually come toe to toe with Pacquiao, considered the two are definitely the best fighters today.
