Wladimir Klitschko vs. Samuel Peter - In the wake of yet another Povetkin failure to take advantage of his mandatory, Samuel Peter will get his chance at revenge. I must already disagree with the boxing scribes who act as if both men have improved since their first meeting. Peter has suffered several knockdowns, and two defeats since their first meeting, while Klitschko has scarcely lost a round. If you thought Klitschko was dominant in every other second except when he was on the floor from questionable punches, wait til Peter's chin is no longer granite. Klitschko by 7th round TKO in a bout very similar to Peter's failure agaisnt the elder Klitschko.
Rafael Marquez vs. Juan Manuel Lopez - I honestly have no idea what will happen here, but I know I will be watching. This is compelling in every way possible. Both men are vulnerable, big punchers with tremendous offense. Both men have shown heart, especially Marquez. One on the way up, one at least leveled off, if not on the downside. That may make the difference, but I honestly do not have any pick other than a great fight, and a complete guess. The only fight I can liken this to in situation is Michael Carbajal against Jorge Arce in 1999. Therefore, I will make that pick: Marquez by late-round KO, while Lopez is ahead on the cards.
Sergio Mora vs. Shane Mosley - I know, he beat a shop-worn Forrest... why not Mosley? Well, because he also lost to the late Forrest when the superior talent was focused, and Mosley is not shot. He is merely coming off a loss to the best in the sport. This is a typical comeback fight for Mosley, similar to that in which he has engaged throughout his career. Following a loss (or two losses to the same fighter) he will take on a recognizable name to boxing fans, with B+ abilities, who can make it interesting while he is losing. Mosley by unanimous decision.
Humberto Soto vs. Marco Antonio Barrera - Barrera is shot, and Soto is the David Diaz to his Erik Morales. I just hope Soto can win convincingly enough that Barrera does not make the same comeback mistake that Morales is making. In his prime, he outclasses Soto. Period. However, the heart and skill of Soto will be more than enough. We may even see a corner surrender, but the future hall-of-famer will likely be allowed to hear the final bell. Soto by unanimous decision.
