Heavyweight contender Leo Nolan, 27-2 (10), steps back into the ring on April 24th. Nolan will be taking on heavyweight prospect "Big Fred" Kassi, 15-1 (8) at the Hollywood Casino in St. Louis Missouri. This bout marks the return of major heavyweight fights to the Hollywood Casino.
For Nolan, it is the first fight back since being stopped in the third round by Alexander Povetkin in December and his second since he was the victim of an attempted car jacking in which he was shot in the neck last June. The shooting left his left arm weakened and his left hand numb. Nolan said he was very tentative going into the Povetkin fight, but has gone through extensive rehabilitation of his injuries and feels a lot better than he did in December. Nolan says he is feeling great and wants the boxing world to know "I am still here and I am coming for the title!"
Since his last fight, Nolan has been over in Germany, staying in top shape by sparring with up and coming heavyweight prospect Robert Helenius. Nolan is not one to overlook opponents, but stated that he would love a bout against Helenius after the Kassi fight. Nolan wants to wish his upcoming opponent luck but also wants to warn him. "Kassi's promoter said in an article that this fight will open up doors for him. Well let me tell you, when he opens up this door, there will be an ass whooping behind it!"
Tickets are $20, $50 and $100. For more information call 1-800-229-2683.
