A Night of Matadors and Fighting Bulls!

HBO’s Boxing After Dark
August 22, 9:45 PM ET/PT, 8:45 PM central
Toyota Center, Houston, Texas
Juan Diaz vs. Paulie Malignaggi (junior welterweight)
Malcolm Klassen vs. Robert Guerrero (IBF junior lightweight title)

Juan Diaz vs. Paul Malignaggi, 12 rounds, catchweight (138.5)
Malignaggi will have his hands full with the “Baby Bull” stalking after him Saturday night! Diaz will be looking to get inside -in between- those fast hands, fast combinations that Paulie will be shooting out.
Diaz's last formidable opponent was (current World Lightweight Champion) Juan Manuel Marquez -slick boxer/counter puncher and tough. Malignaggi's last big match-up was with another bull: an English bulldog, (former World Junior Welterweight Champion) Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton. Both fights are very similar to this match-up in styles, but I think this one is closer in physical stats; which will make for a more exciting and closer contest.
Diaz has lethal inside action, nice hooks and uppercuts all day if you let him connect and get off. This is a very tough fighter and with his style you have to be. “The Magic Man” has great footwork and fast hands, combos and a nice jab. And he uses it and he can take a good shot too! We all saw that when he fought Miguel Cotto (in 2006 for the WBO junior welterweight belt). He took it, got up and took that fight to Cotto the rest of the night!
Diaz/Malignaggi could be the “war du noir” and the winner could very well go on to fight for a world title. The junior welter and lightweight divisions are thinning out and thus opening up for what could be some classic “Gatti vs. Ward”-type fights!

The IBF super featherweight title fight, Malcolm Klassen vs. Robert Guerrero
...is another classic match-up on this card. The tall lanky “Ghost” against a 5’ 4” giant killer from South Africa! Klassen has had plenty of experience fighting guys in his division in the vein of “The Ghost.” You know he has to have a solid jaw bone to be able to work that kind of fight game and great body attack – great if he can get past Guerrero's long, stiff punches and tight boxing skills.
If Guerrero does win, how would he fair as a lightweight or junior welter ?
And who will dominate Saturday night at the Toyota center in Houston, Texas? The bulls or the matadors...
