It’s sad news all around us as we keep losing all the great people in the world today. On Saturday July 11, 2009 we lost one of the best pound for pound fighters we have ever seen. Arturo Gatti was a fantastic fighter who had a never quit attitude whenever he stepped inside the ring to go to war with whoever he was about to fight. WE can remember him from a specific three fight trilogy between Arturo Gatti and Mickey ward and I can honestly say it gave Gatti the reputation of one of the most exciting fighters of his generation.
Gatti retired in 2007 with a record of 40-9 with 31 knockouts. Arturo Gatti is remembered for his strait forward going to knock you out punching and his steel chin. He will also be known as a man who won the super featherweight title in 1995 with the win over Tracy Harris Paterson and he won the junior welterweight title in 2004. As of Saturday the 11th, police are saying that his wife, 23 year old Amanda Rodrigues is being detained and being accused of his death. She denies all claims but prosecutors will decide later what her charges will be.
Police say he was strangled to death with the strap of a purse, which was found at the crime scene, and that he also suffered from a head injury. As of late police think that there was a third party involved. Rest in Peace Arturo Gatti you will be missed.
